Christian Danner qualified in pole position for Sunday’s Grand Prix Masters of Great Britain 2006 race at Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit. The German narrowly finished ahead of Stefan Johansson, Derek Warwick and Riccardo Patrese, who were all covered by under two tenths of a second.
“I was lucky to finish the session ahead of Stefan and Derek as it was very close,” said Danner. “The car is easy to set up and I was able to dial it into my driving style and I had no problems from the car or engine”.
Johansson, in second, said that he lost time in the morning due to a problem with engine mapping but that the qualifying session had gone “pretty well”. Things did not go as smoothly for Warwick, in third. “On my quickest lap I mistakenly went from fourth to sixth gear as I exited Becketts and the car bogged right down. I went back for new tyres but on my last run pushed a bit too hard.”
