Living Large at the Up and coming US Grand Prix
The new Formula One race track “Circuit of the Americas” in Austin was first opened in 2012 with the hosting of the US Grand Prix. Since then, the marking of the event has been by a growing plethora of celebratory events and glamorous parties thrown for the enthusiasts thronging to the US Grand Prix.
Since its beginning in March in Melbourne Australia, the US Grand Prix in Austin will be the 17th stop for the annual world-wide tour. It is scheduled to go from October 31st to November 2nd, conveniently merged with Halloween festivities. If you are planning to join the Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas (CoTA) this year, here are some interesting facts to note:
All You Need To Know
The CoTA comes with a number of packages – grandstand promotions, turn tickets covering the best viewing points of the track (turns 1, 4, 5, 11, 12, 15) and skybox deals. You can even get a multi-turn deal to score different views of the track on different days.
Members of the widely known and exclusive Formula One Paddock Club can get a package, which gives you a place within the balcony overlooking the pit lane. From your vantage point, you will get to see racers begin the race. The package also includes a tour of the pit lane and front seats to interviews of F1 legends.
Should you get tired of the engine sounds, the package also includes access to a wine and champagne bar where you can dine in luxury, amid music and multi-screen coverage of the best views within the circuit.
Things to Do
Have a one-on-one interaction with the FI drivers at the Fans Forum, which will be held on October 29th at the scenic Gibson Showroom. You can get autographs from current and former F1 legends. If your package includes it, there is a Thursday night party on the eve of the premier races, which includes a breathtaking view of the CoTA track. Singer and songwriter Edwin McCain will be live on stage, and revelers can enjoy gourmet food and an open bar. Andretti will also make a special appearance.
On Friday, there will be a luncheon christened Lunch with a Legend, and this one will host the iconic racer Emerson Fittipaldi. Freely help yourself to wine, beer and champagne, and thereafter participate in a Q&A session with the 1972, 1974 world champion.
This year’s CoTA Fan Fest will be the third, and it will witness performances and shows from De La Soul, the Texas Tornadoes and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts. The free-for-all music festival will be held in downtown Austin and will carry on for the duration of the three-day Grand Prix. There will also be racing games, food trucks, rides, exhibits and a variety of activities for kids at the Republic Square Park and Warehouse District.
Mingle with the drivers and models at My Yacht Club’s two-night signature nightclub party on October 31st and November 1st. The event will be arranged in the same manner as other renowned luxury yacht parties in Cannes, Singapore and London, hosted by My Yacht Club. Halloween night will be costume night, in which revelers will compete for the best-dressed award. The winner gets a 24k-gold-leaf-wrapped Methusalem Champagne (six litres, worth $20,000).
Where to Stay
There are many luxurious options for enthusiasts to stay during the festival. The Hilton Austin will be highlighting a McLaren in its lobby, with drink specials at the bar and restaurant all weekend.
You can also opt for Austin’s Four Seasons Hotel, which features a unique Congressional Suite, complete with a wet bar and a looping terrace with a view of the Lady Bird Lake –perfect to keep the party mood going long after the wheels on the track have stopped turning.
